Get your applications ready for the January 2018 intake!
Don’t worry if you’ve missed the September deadline, you can always get a head-start by applying now for the January intake.
Do you want to study abroad but have missed the September intake application deadline? Well, the good news is that you don’t have to wait another academic year before enrolling. It’s always better to start early so you can prepare a strong application for the January intake.
What is January intake?
Most universities based in the US, UK, and Canada have two intake periods. The Fall semester which starts in late August or early September and ends in late December or early January, and the Spring semester which begins in January and ends in early May. Most students tend to apply for the Fall intake as Bachelor’s programmes finish in June, making September a convenient time to start their Master’s studies. However, applying to begin your studies in January is a great option if you don’t manage to get your September applications in on time.
What courses are available in January?
There tends to be a wider selection of courses available for the Fall intake with most universities. But even though the choice is slightly more limited, there are still plenty of good study options available in January. Make sure you do your research to find out all the options available to you and the various programmes on offer, as there may very well be a way that you can take the courses you want in Spring.
When should you start the application process?
The rule of thumb when it comes to starting the application process is; the earlier the better. We understand that the application process can be a lengthy and stressful one, but by starting early you can eliminate some of that stress and make sure you prepare all the documents you need in advance. Another reason to start the process early is to ensure you get your visa application in on time. Applying for visas is a process in and of itself, so be sure you factor in the extra time it takes to prepare the necessary documentation and planning for the interview process if required. Also remember that some courses fill up very quickly, so apply as early as you can to secure your spot. If you’re aiming for the January intake, start now!
When is the deadline?
University application deadlines tend to vary and many accept students on a first come, first serve basis - submitting your application no later than November is your safest bet, but make sure you know exactly when the January intake deadline is for your university of choice, and how they run their acceptance programmes.
