In 2005, Heriot-Watt University was the first overseas university to set up in Dubai International Academic City. The University was invited to Dubai to provide specialised programs in the fields of management, engineering, built environment, food science and fashion.
Heriot-Watt’s history, however, dates back to 1821 when the School of Arts of Edinburgh was established. Since then, the University has grown tremendously and established a reputation for world-class teaching and practical, leading-edge research, making it one of the top UK universities for business and industry. Today Heriot-Watt is recognised internationally as a centre for high calibre research in science, engineering and business.
With 5 campuses: 3 in the UK - Edinburgh, Scottish Borders and Orkney - 1 in Dubai and 1 in Malaysia, Heriot-Watt deliver degree programs to 31,000 students globally; it also boasts the largest international student cohort in Scotland. Heriot-Watt’s degrees in Dubai are accredited and approved by Royal Charter in the UK.
